- On 5th May 2017, a moving dedication of the bronze dolphins was held in the Baby Memorial Garden at Blacon Cemetery. The Rev. John Kingsley, the Countess of Chester Hospital’s chaplain, officiated. The Lord Mayor of Chester Councillor Angela Claydon and the Right Rev. Dr. Peter Forster Bishop of Chester participated. Two young friends George McGary, and Lucas Robertswood whose baby brothers lie in the cemetery, shared the reading of a lovely and appropriate poem ‘Dancing with Dolphins’. The ceremony was much appreciated by those who attended and we trust that this garden will continue to give peace and solace to all who visit.
We would like to thank Steve Blackwell – Stonemason and Russ McAuley – Tree Surgeon, who worked so hard over the bank holiday weekend to ensure the garden was completed in time. Grateful thanks also to the many people who contributed their time and money which enabled us to buy this bronze sculpture.
- We are delighted to tell you that the Co-operative store in Walker Street, Hoole included the Chester Childbirth Appeal in their recent enterprise to raise funds for selected local charities, this is a photograph taken in the store when the staff gave us £822, which was our share of the £2,471.00 raised. Many thanks to all who contributed, the money will go towards the cost of the Bronze Dolphins as promised.
